Precision machining & gun drilling

The admin around every machining job, drafted and ready to check

J&F Precision is a precision engineering firm in Brownhills, Walsall — gun drilling, precision machining, toolmaking and repair work, quoting from CAD files and 2D drawings. The skilled work happens on the machines; the repetitive work happens around them: checking an RFQ is complete before quoting, chasing quotes that have gone quiet, and keeping in touch with customers who haven't ordered in a while. We set them up with an AI Business OS — the business version of ChatGPT, fitted around their company — so that paperwork gets prepared for the team to check instead of typed from scratch.

What we set up

Inside the J&F Precision workspace

A company brain that knows the business

Before any job runs, the workspace already knows what J&F does: the gun drilling and machining services, the full plant list, the sectors they serve, and how the team likes to sound. Just as important is what it's told not to know — no price, lead time or certification is ever guessed. If a fact isn't loaded, the draft carries a clear gap like [price needed] instead.

RFQ triage

When an RFQ or drawing enquiry comes in, the team asks 'check this before we quote'. The workspace reads the enquiry, lists what's missing — material, tolerances, quantities, deadline — and drafts the clarifying questions ready to send. Someone checks the reply before it goes anywhere.

Quote drafts and follow-ups

From the job details it drafts the quote structure, with any unconfirmed price or lead time flagged rather than filled in. When a sent quote goes quiet, it drafts a polite follow-up in J&F's voice. Prices, lead times and the send itself are always checked by a person first.

Old customer reactivation

Working from a Sage export or customer list, it suggests which past customers are worth a call or an email and drafts the reactivation messages. The list is reviewed before anyone is contacted, and opt-outs are respected.

Prospect research, review-first

It can research possible machining and toolmaking customers within roughly 60 miles and put them in a review table — company names and reasons, no contact made. First-contact emails are drafted separately and only go out after approval.

Weekly owner summary

A plain-English weekly round-up: leads in play, quotes to chase, missing information and next actions — so the owners see where things stand without digging through inboxes.

Every quote, reply, chaser and outreach list stays draft-first — the team reviews day to day and the owners approve anything bigger before it is sent.

Questions

What businesses like this ask

Will it make up prices or lead times?

No. If a price, lead time or certification detail isn't in the workspace, the draft carries a marked gap such as [price needed] and the question comes back to you. A person checks every quote before it's sent.

Do we need to be technical to use it?

No. You ask in plain English — 'check this RFQ before we quote' — and it explains what it's doing in simple steps. J&F's team had little previous AI experience; the workspace was built assuming exactly that.

What does it cost to run?

Finzo charges a one-off setup fee, with an optional monthly support plan. The AI itself runs on the business's own account, paid directly to Anthropic or OpenAI on the current plan that suits the users and work. Everything — the account, files and workspace — belongs to the business.
